How to Get Police Clearance Online | Do you need police clearance in order to work locally? The PNP (Philippine National Police) have implemented a new and quicker way for Filipino citizens to get this document online. Read on to find out how to get your police clearance, hassle-free.

What is Police Clearance?

A clearance document issued by the police is a document that proves you have no derogatory or criminal record held on the PNP database.

In general job candidates must provide police clearance when they submit an application. The same document can also be used for credit card applications, NBI clearance, and as ID for some transactions.

It should be noted however that a police clearance is not valid for a DFA passport renewal or application, or as ID for COMELEC.


How long is a Police Clearance Valid For?

The document is valid for 6 months, each clearance being authentic thanks to a unique QR code it bears.

Police Clearance Requirements

To make an online application for a clearance, the PNP required two valid forms of ID. For ID to be valid it must:

  • Have not expired
  • Be an original document (photocopies are not accepted)
  • Have a clear photo, signature, and the applicant’s full name on it

Any 2 of the following forms of ID are acceptable when applying online for a police clearance:

  • Birth certificate
  • Alien certificate of registration
  • Driver’s license
  • GSIS ID
  • OFW ID
  • IBP ID
  • PhilHealth ID
  • PRC ID
  • Postal ID
  • Senior citizen ID
  • School ID
  • UMID/SSS
  • Voter’s ID
  • TIN ID

How to Get Police Clearance Online

The PNP has brought in a new system for processes Philippine police clearances, a system that was introduced online in 2018 and that is known as the NPCS (National Police Clearance System). This new system ensures that Filipinos can get a police clearance in just 10 minutes. You must however still go in person to your local police station, where your biometrics will be captured.

Before the online system was rolled out, a walk-in application would take around 30 minutes.

The online system speeds up the verification process for the applicant’s biometric data and criminal record, as the NPCS system is connected to the PNP database.

So, applying online for a police clearance is efficient and convenient, and can be carried out by following these steps.


1. Firstly, you must register for an account via the NPCS

To do so, visit the NPCS website and click to register, agreeing to the terms and conditions by checking the boxes. Continue to the next page by clicking the next button, and so on, until you reach the last page. On the last page, click the “I Agree” button.

When registering as a new applicant, provide the information required, including a valid email address. Then check the box for terms and conditions and then click to complete your registration.

Once you have successfully completed this process, you will receive an email from the NPCS asking you to verify your online account with the NPCS. If you can’t find the email in your inbox, check the spam folder. Once you locate the email, click on the verification link provided. Once you have done this you will be redirected to the login page for the NPCS.

2. Make an Online Appointment

Sign into your new account with the email you used to register and your password.

In order to make an appointment for your police clearance, you must first edit your profile. This is done by clicking on “edit profile” and filling all the necessary details. Once you have finished filling in the details, make sure to click on the button to save your profile.

To make your appointment, click the button for clearance application, and then go on to select your nearest police station. A list of available appointments will then show, and you can choose the time and date you wish to attend, clicking next once you have selected the appointment of your choice.

Next click on the “Land Bank of Philippines” button, and then click “save appointment”.

You will find that payment details for the transaction will be displayed, and a reference number will be issued by the system that you need to take note of. This number will be used when you come to pay the fee for your police clearance.

3. Make your payment for your Police Clearance

In order to pay the appropriate fee for your police clearance document, you must click on the “Pay to LANDBANK” button which will redirect you to the ePayment portal where you will make your online payment using a LANDBAN, BancNet, of GCash account.

How Much Does Police Clearance Cost?

The total cost of a police clearance is PHP160. This includes a PHP10 transaction fee.

How to Pay for a Police Clearance with GCash

If you wish to use your Gcash account to pay, enter your account number in the ePayment portal, a summary of the transaction then being shown. To pay by BancNet or LANDBANK, the process is the same.


How to use 7-11 for Police Clearance Payment

If you are unable to use the above methods such as GCash for your payment, you can complete your transaction with 7-11 by following these easy steps:

  • Once inside the ePayment Portal, select “Cash Payment” and click on the submit button. If you choose this method of payment, the total cost, including A PHP 30convenience fee will be PHP 180.
  • Select “7-11” as your payment method, reviews the detail and then click on proceed
  • Copy and then save the reference number you are given, and then go on to the 7-11 CLiQQ app to make the payment, using your CLiQQ account.
  • From the list of billers that appears, select “government”
  • From the next list of options, select MYEGPH, then entering the reference number you were given, the amount to pay, and your mobile number.
  • Next, click on confirm and go to your local 7-11 to pay for your police clearance, where you will be asked to present the bar code on your CLIQQ app.

4. Go to your Selected Police Station

When you attend your scheduled appointment, make sure you bring your reference number and two valid forms of ID with you as well as an official receipt of your payment.

Once at the police station, you will have your biometrics captured. This includes your fingerprints, your photo, and a digital signature.

Your application will then go through a process of verification where your criminal record on the PNP database will be checked as well as you biometrics. This process is quick, and you can simply wait for your name to be called.

If however, your application got a hit, you will be required to undergo another process of verification. Once this is settled, you can claim your document of police clearance.

Renewal Process for Police Clearance

Once your clearance expires, after 6 months, you will need to re-apply by following the above steps. There is no renewal process available for your Philippines police clearance.
