What Are The Difference Among BASE, MASE and BASE-MERIT Program? – The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), as the leading agency in the implementation of programs, projects and initiatives related to science, technology and innovations, envisions technologically advanced and improved access to quality education through science and technology scholarship programs, capacity building for science and mathematics teachers, upgrading of science laboratories, among others.

To help concretize one of its core programs and further promote science education in the region, the Ministry has established two cash assistance programs helping students or youth in their educational attainment.

Under the Science Education, Scholarships, and Grants (SESG) of the Ministry, there are three cash assistance programs.

These are: Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE), Mujahideen/Mujahidat Assistance for Science Education (MASE), and Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education – Merit (BASE-Merit) Program.

A. Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) Program

This platform is a cash assistance-based program applicable only for incoming first-year college students who intend to pursue science and technology courses. Eligible awardees will get monthly cash assistance amounting to P8,000.00 or P40,000.00 per semester.

The application opening is on April 2022, and the examination is in May or June. The official result for the list of BASE grantees is posted in July of the same year at the MOST Official FB Page and MOST Website.

The Ministry will set an online application platform posted during the application opening. Also, an applicant may submit their application through personal submission in the MOST Regional Office located at the Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City or in the Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTC) Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
A total of 200 BASE grantees – third batch will be awarded this 2022.

One of the required documents to submit on this particular program is a certification from the Unit/Base/Committee/Sector Head of MILF or MNLF certifying that you are a mujahideen/mujahidat or legitimate sons and daughters of mujahideen or mujahidat.

The application is still open, and there is no examination for this program.

A total of 80 MASE grantees will be awarded this 2022.

This program is limited only to S & T highly and specialized courses such as petroleum/oil engineering, chemist, meteorology, metrology, geology, aeronautics, anatomy, and alike. Eligible awardees will get monthly cash assistance amounting to P100,000.00 per semester.
